CASE STUDY

ENGINEERING a better world.

The Challenge

The Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET) aims to inspire, inform and influence the global engineering community, supporting innovation to meet the needs of society. IET wanted to ensure Parliamentarians understand just how much of society is impacted by the work of engineers and how it reaches into many areas of policy.

The Solution

Dods created and produced a podcast series on behalf of the IET, offering the client the opportunity to engage directly with influential MPs, including ministers, shadow ministers and select committee chairs. Titled ‘Engineering a Better World’, the series brought together policy-makers and IET representatives to discuss the major policy challenges and the solutions engineering can offer, covering topics as varied as net zero, housing, 5G and manufacturing.

The Results

Throughout the eight-part series Dods interviewed 17 MPs, including 12 ministers and Shadow Ministers and three Select Committee chairs. Participants included Education Secretary Nadhim Zahawi, Transport Minister Trudy Harrison, Skills Minister Alex Burghart, Women’s Minister Baroness Berridge and the government’s Net Zero Business Champion Andrew Griffith. A social media amplification campaign aimed at IET’s target audience delivered over 750,000 impressions and 25,000 engagements.
